Department of Translation The Chinese University of Hong Kong 10-12 December 2018 CALL FOR PAPERS / PANELS This conference on translation and space, organized by the Department of Translation at CUHK, follows on the success of our 2016 conference “Translation and Time: Exploring the Temporal Dimension of Cross-cultural Transfer.” Space and spatial metaphors for translation have been more prevalent in translation research than time and temporal metaphors, although they are also often inter-related.

While the transformation of women’s social status is one of the most significant developments of the post-war period, little is known about the precise ways in which women’s rights campaigners across different national and cultural settings communicated with one another, read and translated each other’s texts, and locally re-contextualised them.
