Critical Link 8 will be hosted by The Centre for Translation & Interpreting Studies in Scotland (CTISS), Heriot-Watt University, at the Edinburgh Conference Centre. From around the world, the conference will bring together all community/public service interpreting and translation stakeholders: community and public sector representatives, employers, developers of tools and technologies, policy makers, practitioners, professional bodies, researchers, service users, trainers and educators, TICS (translation, interpreting & communication support) service providers, and other interested parties to build on progress made to date in order to move forward.

Closing deadline extended to 10 June 2016 The Department of Translation at the Chinese University of Hong Kong is now hiring a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow, initially tenurable for 12 months, with the possibility of further extension for an additional 12 months. As the first Department of Translation in Hong Kong, our programme has a long history of excellence in a variety of fields, including but not limited to translation history, translation and technology, translation theory, and practical translation (especially literary).

Here he shares his findings on the 25 most cited books as well as the top ten journal articles. The sheer number of citations for these top cited publications is worth noting as is the fact that no one discipline dominates over the others in the top 20, with the top six books all from different disciplines.

As you, the reader, absorb a text, you receive it through your own filter of the world and of words. When you read a book in English that was first written in another language, you rely on the filter of the translator’s mindset. The best translators are authors in their own right; their nuanced, percipient sensibility and their superb command of English allow them not so much to translate as to reinvent the works they bring to us.

(Re)constructing, (re)framing, and (re)negotiating Postgraduate Conference in Translation and Interpreting Studies for Greater China (PCTIGC) 3-4 Dec 2016 CALL FOR ABSTRACTS On 1 January 2015, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shandong University and University of Macau launched a collaborative research initiative called Postgraduate Conference in translation and interpreting studies for Greater China (PCTIGC), an annual postgraduate conference in translation and interpreting studies. This new research initiative is the first attempt to bring together postgraduate level delegates from various institutions in China, which will work as a platform that offers a valuable opportunity to deepen and develop collaboration and cooperation among postgraduates in China within the multilateral and multidisciplinary framework.
